Grade 3 STUDENT PLACEMENT OPTIONS for the 2019-2020 School Year

Dear Second Grade Parents:

The transition from the Warren Elementary School to the Mindess Elementary School is an important event in the lives of our students and their families.  The Mindess School currently provides two program options to meet the varied learning style of our students.

Placement options for the 2019-2020 school year for Grade 2 students entering Grade 3 include the following learning environments:

  • Single-Grade:  Students are placed in self-contained homerooms with teachers who may partner with another teacher in the 3rd grade.

  • Multiage-Neighborhood:  In the Multiage Program, students are placed in a homeroom with students who are 3rd, 4th and 5th graders with one teacher for THREE years.  The Multiage-Neighborhood will consist of eight multiage homebases.

To learn more about these programs, you are cordially invited to attend a presentation on student placement options on Tuesday evening, February 26, 2019, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., in the Mindess School Auditorium.  Parents are invited to attend this informational meeting which will include a brief introduction by the Mindess Principal and presentations by several members of the Mindess faculty.  Additionally, Student Placement Option Forms will be available.

ALL Option Forms are due on Friday, March 15, 2019, by 3:20 p.m. in the Mindess School Office.  Forms received after this date and time will not be considered.

Forms may be returned by mail or hand-delivered to the Principal’s Office at the Mindess School.  If parents choose to mail their option forms, please allow at least a week for mail delivery.  Forms receive date stamps to ensure they have been received by the deadline.  

All students opting to enter our Multiage Program are entered into a lottery.  The lottery will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.  Parents are invited to attend the lottery.  A letter will be sent to families regarding the lottery results immediately following the lottery.
