Registration Timeline
Kindergarten registration for the fall kicks off in January. Here are some reasons you should enroll your child as early as possible:

* Current Ashland Preschool students do not need to attend this registration event. Preschool students are automatically enrolled in Kindergarten if age eligible. Preschool students will, however, be required to have a screening.

Must be up-to-date information, even if it will expire before September. You will be asked to update our copy of the medical information after your child’s next physical.

Age Requirements and Eligibility
Children must be five years old by August 31 to be eligible for Kindergarten, and six years old by August 31 for first grade. No exceptions to these age requirements can be made.
If your child is eligible but will not be attending Ashland Public Schools, please call the Central Registration Department at (508) 532-4005. This will enable us to obtain the most accurate enrollment projections possible.
Screenings
In addition to completing your child’s registration, you will sign up for kindergarten screening. Kindergarten screenings will take place during May. Students who speak languages other than English may also need an English screening at that time.
Required Forms
If you meet our age and residency requirements (or can provide a Residency Affidavit or meet the McKinney-Vento eligibility guidelines), you may begin the new student registration process.
Download and complete the registration packet. Save and rename the file with your student’s first and last name, then email it to the Central Registrar at registration@ashland.k12.ma.us. Please do not scan or send copies of your birth certificate or any other confidential documents via email.

Kindergarten registration for the 2026–2027 school year will officially open on January 31, 2026 at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Henry Warren Elementary School. If you cannot attend the registration event, schedule a 30-minute in-person appointment with the district Registrar. Schedule HERE. Appointments will be available after February 1.
