Teaching & Learning in Ashland Public Schools is driven by the beliefs that: 

• Students deserve a relevant, meaningful, inclusive curriculum to engage with where they can see their own identities and be prepared to enter the diverse, global society in which we live. 
• One of the most sophisticated skills we can help students develop is taking information from multiple places, interrogating that information, and then transforming it into something new.  Additionally, we need to model, provide opportunities for, and foster civil discourse.
• All students deserve to feel engaged and included in their education. This can be done by understanding students for who they have been–what their past learning and life experiences have been–and using that information in order to get the best assessment of where students currently are.  Then, we need to envision all of the things that students can be and do in the future.
