Social-Emotional Learning

Welcome!
This is my 8th year as the Director of Counseling & SEL in Ashland. My job is to help support the social-emotional well-being of both our students and staff. It is a pleasure to work with the counselors and educators in APS to ensure that all of our students develop the social and emotional skills they need to succeed in school and life. It is my goal for SEL to be deeply embedded into the daily activities of our students and staff so that SEL is not simply a curriculum or special class, but so it simply becomes the way that we do things in the Ashland Public Schools community.
Prior to working in Ashland I worked as a School Psychologist in the Boston and Milford Public Schools and as a School Adjustment Counselor in the Milford Public Schools for 15 years.
Please feel free to reach out to me to ask a question, voice any concerns you may have or if you are seeking resources related to social-emotional development or mental well-being.

What is SEL?
Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions.
At Ashland Public Schools, we are committed to cultivating both the academic and social-emotional growth of each student to help them develop into self-motivated, resilient, life-long learners.
We believe it is essential for families and schools to work together to address the social-emotional development of each student.
