Lifting Mask Mandate for Vaccinated AHS Students Starting December 13, 2021 - A Letter from Supt. Adams to the Community

11/19/2021

Dear Ashland Community,

Last night, Thursday, November18, 2021, the Ashland School Committee voted 5-0 to lift the facial covering mandate at Ashland High School for fully vaccinated individuals. The School Committee approved my recommendation to allow vaccinated individuals to remove their face covering inside Ashland High School beginning December 13, 2021. In order to remove the face covering, parents are required to fill out an attestation form for their student(s). Here is a link to the ATTESTATION FORM.  Vaccinated individuals, however, are still required to wear face coverings on school transportation, in the nurse's office or any other place outlined in Policy EBCFA.

All unvaccinated individuals will be required to continue to wear face coverings inside all APS buildings.

Upon our return from the December break, facial coverings will be required for ALL individuals, regardless of vaccination status, from January 3, 2022 through January 15, 2022.  On January 18, 2022 those who are fully vaccinated and have completed the attestation form will once again be given the option to remove their face covering, assuming we do not see an uptick in COVID cases at AHS.

As we continue to receive updated information and guidance, we will work to communicate with you in a timely manner.  This includes but is not limited to winter athletics, waivers for other APS buildings, guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the Ashland Board of Health.

As always, we sincerely appreciate your continued support and cooperation.

Recap of Dates:

  • December 13, 2021 - Removal of face coverings for fully vaccinated individuals at AHS with attestation form completed

  • January 3, 2022 - January 15, 2022 - ALL individuals must wear face coverings at AHS

  • January 18, 2022 - Removal of face coverings for fully vaccinated individuals at AHS with attestation assuming no COVID spread

 Be well,

 Jim
