• Teachers make appropriate recommendations for students on what courses would be the best fit for them the following year.  However, if a family wants to pursue an override of the original recommendation, the following process must be followed (in this specific order):

    1. The parent contacts the students' teacher (through phone call or e-mail) requesting a discussion regarding the original recommendation and the rationale behind it.  This allows the parent to understand why the original recommendation is the most appropriate course as well as any concerns should the override be pursued.
    2. If the parent chooses to move forward after that meeting, the student, while logged into their Ashland school account, completes the top part of the Override Form and shares the document digitally with their teacher.
    3. The teacher will confirm that they have had a conversation with the parent by signing the form and sharing with the students' counselor (please note: the teacher will not sign or share the form without having been contacted by the parent).
    4. The parent contacts the student's counselor for a discussion regarding the override and to finalize the request.

Please note that placement in classes by override can only be done if there is room in the class.  Classes that are already full cannot be overriden into.  Completion of the override does not guarantee a student a spot in that course.

Override Form - Please note that this is accessible for students as "view only." You need to make a copy of the doc, fill out the top part, then share with your teacher after your parent has communicated with the teacher regarding the override request.

The deadline to submit an Override Form is Tuesday, April 1st but please NOTE that completion of the Override Form by April 1st does NOT guarantee you a spot in the course.  Only if there is room available.
