Our Classrooms
Our spacious classrooms include cubbies for each child to store their belongings. Cubbies display family and individual pictures to promote their feelings of security and enhance their sense of belonging.
Each classroom is designed with specific interest or activity areas to include arts/crafts, easel, sensory area, small manipulatives and math area, pre-writing, science/discovery area, block building area, library and listening area, computer and dramatic play.
Our Library
We recently redesigned our library space to set up a learning space for classes to enjoy books, games and other learning activities. Our inventory of books has also been redesigned to provide our educators with easy access to curriculum units, authors and theme-related sections.
Outdoor Space
Outdoor play time is an important part of our day. We plan and offer activities that develop and strengthen large muscle groups utilizing the field area and play structure.
The children play outdoors each day, unless the weather is inclement or below 20 degrees. When we can't go outdoors, our large motor activities are replaced with appropriate games, movement and music activities in the Gym.
Safety and Security
The safety of all children in our schools is of the utmost importance. We are committed to creating safe, caring and orderly schools with environments for learning. We take emotional, social and psychological safety just as seriously as physical safety. Parents and caregivers can be assured that racial, ethnic and cultural differences as well as special educational needs will be respected.
For physical and building safety, we implement the following protocols:
- We have a camera-based security system to identify all people entering the building.
- Our fire safety system is tied directly to the Ashland Fire Department. We hold quarterly fire drills with the AFD to practice our emergency plans.
- We meet or exceed all building regulations and safety codes.
Visitor Management
Anyone visiting our buildings will need their license or other photo identification to enter. This includes when you are dismissing and/or picking up your student. Give yourself plenty of time as administrative assistants will need to verify your information for dismissal. Please do not allow anyone to "piggyback" off your entry, as our front office staff must buzz in and screen each visitor individually.
