  • Welcome to Kindergarten

    In Ashland, highly skilled staff ensure that children's first school experiences are positive, nurturing and engaging. Through creative play and peer interaction, children learn vital social and academic skills that will provide the foundation for future success.

  • Registration Timeline

    Kindergarten registration for the fall kicks off in January. Here are some reasons you should enroll your child as early as possible:

    • Help the District plan class sizes for the upcoming school year.

    • Coordinate any services your child may need in advance.

    • Avoid the last-minute summer rush.

  • * Current Ashland Preschool students do not need to attend this registration event. Preschool students are automatically enrolled in Kindergarten if age eligible. Preschool students will, however, be required to have a screening.

    Kindergarten registration for the 2025–2026 school year will officially start on Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Henry Warren Elementary School. If you cannot attend the registration event, schedule an individual, 15-minute in-person appointment here. Appointments will be available after Feb. 1.

  • Required Registration Documents

    Proof of Residency

    Proof of Occupancy

    Proof of Identification

    One of the following required:

    • Recent mortgage payment

    • Property tax bill

    • Fully signed and executed lease and/or rental agreement the names of the children listed on the document

    • HUD lease or another public housing lease (Section 8)

    • HUD settlement statement

    One of the following required:


    • Cable/satellite TV bill

    • Electric bill

    • Gas bill

    • Water bill

    • Home/renter’s insurance

    • Excise tax bill

    • Home phone bill (not cell)


    * All bills must be dated within the past 45 days with the name and address clearly stated.

    One valid photo identification from the following list is required:

    • Driver’s License

    • State ID card

    • Passport

    • Military ID

    • Other government-issued photo ID

     

    • Student’s original birth certificate (with a raised seal)

    • Child’s current physical and immunization record

      • Must be signed by a physician

      • Must be up-to-date information, even if it will expire before September. You will be asked to update our copy of the medical information after your child’s next physical.

  • Age Requirements and Eligibility

    Children must be five years old by August 31 to be eligible for Kindergarten, and six years old by August 31 for first grade. No exceptions to these age requirements can be made.

    If your child is eligible but will not be attending Ashland Public Schools, please call the Central Registration Department at (508) 532-4005. This will enable us to obtain the most accurate enrollment projections possible.

  • Screenings

    In addition to completing your child’s registration, you will sign up for kindergarten screening. Kindergarten screenings will take place during May. Students who speak languages other than English may also need an English screening at that time.
